Cermola has been a member of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority since 1977 and is currently serving as Vice-Chairman of the organization, a position he has held Since 1982. Cermola was appointed by Governor Ella Grasso to the Connecticut Board of Registration for Engineers and Land Surveyors and served as Chairman from 1979 to 1995. He was a Director of the Connecticut Association of Streets and Highways from 1988 to 1992. Cermola served the Connecticut Engineers in Private Practice and the Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors for many years and was elected president of the Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors in 1971 and Connecticut Engineers in Private Practice in 1975. He also worked for several consulting and construction firms before starting Cardinal Engineering Associates, a consulting Civil Engineering firm, in 1962. Cermola graduated from the Indiana Technical Institute with a B.S in Civil Engineering and worked for the Department of Transportation of the State of Illinois. With over 50 years of professional engineering experience, Joe has been involved in every type of project the firm handles- from problem analysis to construction.
